"The Nuclear Medicine Day", September 11, 2013, Skane University Hospital, Malmö

NUMEMA organized the annual "Nuclear Medicine Day" 11 September, where a current area of nuclear medicine is addressed by different lecturers. This year's theme was "Hybrid imaging - PET/SPECT/CT/MR" and lecturers from Rigshospitalet Copenhagen, The University Hospital in Linköping, Skåne University Hospital and EXINI Diagnostics were invited.

Johan Löfgren from Copenhagen told of exciting projects on their new PET/MRI. Gunnar Lindblom from Linköping talked about life as a "hybrid" (physician in nuclear medicine and radiology) and how to interpret a PET/CT. Ola Thorsson from Malmö presented how the accuracy of bone scintigraphy has improved after the introduction of both SPECT and low-dose CT as adjuncts to the conventional whole body scan. The last two lecturers covered different aspects of physicis in nuclear medicine. David Minarik talked about how to use the anatomical information from CT or MRI to improve the nuclear medicine image and Anton Sörensen about the development of a new software for quantification of 18F-flutemetamol PET brain imaging.

The "Nuclear Medicine Day", August 24, 2011, Malmö.

NUMEMA, The Nuclear Medicine Research Group in Malmö, arranged “Nuclear Medicine Day” August 24 on the topic Prostate Cancer and Urology. More than 100 people had signed up for the event, including urologists, oncologists, radiologists, physicists and physicians in nuclear medicine.

The first lecturer was David Ulmert, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, who presented research results about bone scan index and prostate cancer, as well as experiences from being a researcher in USA. Next, Jens Sörensen from Uppsala talked about different PET tracers in prostate cancer. This lecture was followed by Reza Kaboteh from the Sahlgrenska Academy in Gothenburg and Jörn Skibsted Jakobsen from Odense University Hospital in Denmark, who presented studies on bone scan index and PET/CT studies on prostate cancer, respectively.

The event was concluded by a discussion led by Anders Bjartell, Skåne University Hospital in Malmö, which focused on better collaboration between the Nuclear Medicine Department and the Urology Department, as well as the development of new PET tracers.

The Nuclear Medicine Day will be an annual event with varying topics.

Lecturer: Reza Kaboteh, Anders Bjartell, Jens Sörensen, David Ulmert, Jörn Skibsted Jakobsen.
Moderator: Elin Trägårdh
